I am going to replace my factory XB HDD with a 120gig Seagate drive. How would I transfer my Live account to my new HDD? From other posts i've seen people said that you have to recover your account or something. Has anyone here set up their existing account on their swapped HDD? Any info appreciated...

the only way that worked successfully for me was before i got rid of old hdd i saved the account to mem card. then copied it to new hdd once it was installed. I couldn't sign on to live until i did it that way for some reason so if you have a mem card do that.
otherwise i had saved my old hdd to computer then copied everything to new hdd. It listed the live account but i couldn't sign on and even after doing an account recovery it still didn't work but those methods i believe have worked fine for others.

I replaced my HDD with a maxtor 120 gig HDD, and because I hadn't saved my live account to a memory card, I was forced to use account recovery. They ask for a lot of information (to verify your account), but after that was entered it took no time at all to get connected. Completely painless (as long as you can remeber all the info you used when you registered).

Where do you get the option to save it to a memory card? Where is the account recovery option.

If you are in the regular MS dash, go into the memory section and your live account should be listed similarly to game saves, you can then just save it to a memory card. As for account recovery it is under the account tag after logging into xbox live.
