The XDK installs on Windows not on your Xbox.
It needs Visual Studio.NET or the old version installs on Visual Studio 6.
Once you have it running you can then compile XBE apps that run on an Xbox that either has a modchip, a flashed TSOP or has one of the dashboard exploits installed.

. Get it right, SDK, software development kit. Yes you do need MSVisual Studio.net installed on your PC, networked and at least Windows 2k. Then follow the tutorials, I use this one my self. Have the latest version of signed PBL (the one that allows you to multi boot bioses), add TATX_BFM in the bioses directory, as well as your hacked bios and bobs your uncle. As long as you can boot the debug bios (RC4 key only required, you probebly already have that as well as the EEPROM smile.gif then you can load XDK.
