Are you talking about a xbox 1.0 psu on a 1.2 atx mobo

or trying to use a xbox psu for a pc mobo ?

if you mean the 1.2 mobo then there is a tutorial on xbox-scene which works but they say about adding a couple of extra wires

you can and have done it myself at least 3 times just use 12 pins with no extra wires needed for the atx mobo's
some atx mobo's have about 15 wires

but you can lose

1 orange wire
1 black
1 red wire

making 12 wires to 12 wire conversion - less hassle/work

strip atx connector wires back & tin them with solder nicely

push the 12 tinned wires into the old 12 pin 1.0 connector - as the wires were tinned they will be like solid pins

nice n easy and the great thing is that the old psu can be used in a ver 1.0 straight away still - so it now can go both ways - handu for testing both types of mobo's
