ok, my friend was installing a switch for me, becuase i just made a light for the jewel, and he was dremeling the case. unfortunatly he hit the motherboard. Luckily he only hit one trace, the video trace. well my 40g hd got deleted in the process. I dont have my soldering iron atm. But i do have an old xbox motherboard which i want use my 40gig on. the problem is, i cant unlock it. not so hard eh? well heres the problem, i dont have a modchip. i need some suggestions/help please.

How did he dremel INTO the video trace, and how did a hard drive get deleted because of it????

I'm guessing you were using an exploit if you had the 40 Gb hard drive...

I am not 100% sure about needing a modchip to unlock a drive (mines still in the mail, grr) but you probably do.

Can the harddrive be unlocked even if an error screen is present on the screen/ does it depend on the error screen message??
