Nope.

You need to physically open the HD, flash with some "thing", and go from there.

No software can do it.

if you physically opena hard drive and expose the disks, then yes you might as well throw them away,, when opening a hard drive it must be in a sterile, CLEAN dust free environment, any dust particles on those disks and *POOF* no more reading or they will have errors

i suppose you could update the firmware that might clear out any locks,, but i dont know for sure.

well use the hard drive unlock tutorial for the xbox,, then when your in dos mode and use hdulock input the password code and then make them remain unlocked..

but if they already have a lock on them its probably not going to work.

i would go for the firmware flash.

*edit* DOH dumb me,, if its locked already then there is no way to use the hd unlock tutorial for xbox since the drive is locked already,, it needs to be unlocked for the tutorial to work,, ie- get the hard drive code.
yeah try the firmware.

Not sure if this will help. I thought I had seen some tools a while back that could possibly unlock a locked drive without the use of the original BOX. Ther are a couple in the Hard Drive section of the TOOLS tab on the main page
TOOLS SECTION LINK

I had also found a tool that claims to be able to do it from a pure DOS environment. Check it out at. XBOX DEV

AS for the Firmware update option. HIGHLY Unlikely. Reason being is that it is nearly impossible to get the firmware update file from any of the drive vendors. I used to deal with Seagate regularly and had to jump through hoops to get a firmware update file for their drives and that was when I was dealing directly with one of their verry high level engineer/designers.
