Edit: Well, it looks like CC on-line has been hammered quite hard for this drive. I was able to order it on-line for local pickup about two hours ago. Now it will not allow you to place an order and is only showing "call your local store" for availability. So, IF your local store has it in stock, the price would be ~$110 after rebate since the $25 gift card is only available for on-line purchases. The rebates are good through 22 November, so keep checking back on the site to see if they restock.

Mods - if this is not the right forum, please move.

Circuit City now has the Western Digital WD2500JBRTL 250 gig, 8 meg cache hard drive, on-line only for $249. But wait, there is not one, but two eligible $70 rebates (one requires copy of UPC, the other the original) and , they throw in a gift card for 10% of your purchase if you spend over $200 on-line. Just go to Circuit City and search for WD2500JBRTL

So the deal is as follows: $249.99 - $70 rebate - $70 rebate - $25 giftcard = $85!!!

Of courses, ymmv since CC charges tax on the $249.99

Right now, they are out of stock on-line. But, you MUST order it on-line and then choose your local store for pick-up. If your local store does not have it, try selecting another store in your area.

According CHELROB in the List Of Hard Disks And "lockability," the "Western Digital 250GB WD2500JBRTL Special Edition definitely LOCKABLE! "

When it was available on-line a few hours ago, the price was $249.99. According to this thread at fatwallet, people were able to get the $249 price in the store. Make sure you get the rebates from on-line though as they were not in the store.

Yes, the site says $349 but if you put it in your cart it said $250. Then there are 2 $70 mail in rebates, bringing the price down to $110. Then, they gave you 10% of the original price, so thats another $25 off, bringing the grand total to $85. Pretty good deal, although if you dont live next to a circuit city you probably won't have much luck.

Sorry I missed your post. I did a search on WD2500JBRTL and did not get any hits mentioning the CC deal. With a deal such as this, it probably should be posted as a separate topic so people will see it immediately instead of wading through a topic. The CC deal disappeared quite quickly (at least the easy way to do it - it is still available at the B&M w/o the gift card) so some folks may have missed out.

Normally, I would agree with you about newegg. Their prices and service are tough to beat. But this time, they want $224 for the OEM (bare drive) WD2500JB special edition, while I got the retail drive kit for $85 after rebates from Circuit City. And if it wasn't for the in-laws coming in today, I could have picked it up this afternoon. Even Newegg can't get it to me that fast and cheap!
