A Note To All Skinners
Posted 18 December 2003 - 09:06 AM
make sure they are in ZIP format, and not RAR.
Why? UnleashX plans to add future features that require this. I cannot really go into too much detail, but just remember, it must be this way. You can just as easily create a ZIP using winRAR as well if you refuse to install WinZIP (just like I do). I refuse to let WinZIP's parasitic worm like presense exist on my PC.
So,....just remember everyone, when submitting skins to AllXboxSkins.com,....
MAKE SURE YOUR SKINS ARE ZIPPED!! NOT RARED!!

|I put the skin inside the UnleashX skin folder, but it can't read the zip file skin?|

i.e. normally when you right click a folder called <myskin> it will create a zip file like this:-
You want it to be like this:-
Once you have your zip make a folder in your skins folder like myskin and then copy your zip file to this folder.

|Another reason for this I imagine would be to directly download skins to the Xbox....I believe that the sources for Unraring files is freely available too, so not sure why they should have to be .zip files, as Unrar functionality should be built-in with the downlaod skin from dash method...Unless this is harder to implement, whcih not sure why it would be if it can do .zip, I would have to say both formats should be supported....|
rar is suppoted up to a certain version. I cant remember the version number, but it is well below what most of us are probably using. Its just safer to use zip.

Learn something new everyday huh Maybe James could add support for unraring skin downloads. UnleashX has rar support so it probably wouldn't take too much work
