Connected to my xbox via xover cable from win2k server (serving dhcp). Using an xecuter chip. I booted from an evox iso. In the settings screen, the xbox is pulling an ip from my dhcp server. Also, I can ping it. Whenever i try to connect via ftp, though (regardless of client), the connection is timing out. Will not connect. Tried disabling passive mode, nada. Any ideas? This is driving me nuts.

what ftp program are you using? flashxftp? wsftp? cuteftp? they should all work. double check the ip of the xbox and the password. connection should be quick.

I've used several different ftp programs. Also tried a static ip AND a dynamic. the xbox will pull a dynamic address from my server, but I can't even ping the box. I think the nic is bad.

Let start with the basics and work our way up. Do you have a link on the hub or switch for both units?

What are you using for DHCP server?

If you can't ping it any program you try will fail.

Sorry too many post in this thread I did not notice there were two people with two different problems.

I will asume you are getting a link light on the switch's port the Xbox is connected to. What brand of switch are you using? When you connect the units to the switch you are using a straight through cable.

Is the Win2k server your only PC on the network? By your post I will asume the win2k machine is acting as you DHCP server. Do you see the Xbox recieving a lease from you DHCP server in WIN2k's DHCP manager.

Yes. u got that right..

I can se that xbox got ip for server and i can se the ip on xbox. have also used static ip on xbox.

In my network i got to portabel, one stationary pc and a linux firewall

My switch is a:
Sunsway Switch 8 Port 10/100Mbps
and
Super stack II PS hub 40 from 3Com.

Have tried to sett up static ip on my portabel and xbox whit hub or switch and nothing more conneced to the hub/swhitch but no.Tried diffrent cabels also.

Nothing seem to get it to work...

yes all of my network conections is ok.. exept from getting contact whit my xbox.

The only way to get a good conetion to my xbox is to use xover cabel for either notebook or win2k server, when am using xover cabel i can use dhcp or static ip.

But when i connect xbox to a hub or switch i got connection for 1 min or somthing and then i loos my conenction and cant use streaming or ftp but i can ping it.

Here can u see my log from FlashFXP...

I did found the error, is was someting that my Wlan did.. when i did disabel my wlan (that i use wery often, always) did the streaming and ftp work fine.

The Wlan i got is a W410 from compaq as base station and w110 for my notebook. I havent have the time to check out why the Wlan causes the time out that i got.
