I have a very difficult task, I would like to replace the HD with a 40gb HD, and run Linux on it, but I would also like to be able to run xbox backups from a DVD. If a modchip is required, what bois should I use? Thanks!

I'm sorry, I forgot to say that I would like Linux to have most of the HD space reserved for it. Also, if possible, I would like this console to boot directly to Linux, unless a game is in the DVD drive. Thanks

get a bios that boots from e and gentoox. rename the gentooxx.xbe to xboxdash.xbe then set gentoo up to run from the f drive and expand the root fs to use the whole space of f.
this way the bios checks for default.xbe on the dvd-rom and if it isn't found it defaults to linux

I'm sorry, I'm new to this whole idea of linux on my xbox, and dual booting like this. Could you please give me a step by step, and tell me who makes this bios that I should look for, also, would this require a modchip? thanks
