I posted this in the XBMP forum also, wasnt sure what forum this would be best in. So sorry in advance for the multiple posts.

Hey I could really use some help of the local experts in this group biggrin.gif
I have an xbox with a 120 gig hard drive in it and only running gentoox with samba running.
I am using this xbox as a file server to store all my movies, music and photo's to my other 2 xbox's in the house running Xbox media player.
My problem is I can for the life of me get XBMP to see the files on the linux box??
The files that are on the linux box are shared as I can share the drives from windows XP by mapping the drive: \xboxF & \xboxE.
so in the XBMP XML file I have tried everything I can think of.
It look something like this:
<url>smb://:@xbox/F/</url>
I have tried many other things in the xml like:
<url>smb://root:xbox@102.168.0.193/F</url>

I have tried everything I can think of to get xbmp to access the files from the F drive on gentoox linux and I am stumped? sad.gif ?
My wife informs me if I spend all of christmas eve working on this she is going to kill me LOL
but I just cant put it down! there has to be a way to do this!
any help would be great.
Thanks guys..

Try this:

<url>smb://smbusername:password@workgroupname/machineip/sharename</url>

where smbusername is a valid smb user id
password is the smb user's password
workgroupname is the name of the workgroup you've setup your smb server on
machineip is the ip or dns resolved host name
sharename is the name of the smb share you've defined

The only other thing to check is to make sure your smb setup is configured properly.
