sorry for asking silly newbe questions

I've found a guy from this forum that is willing to chip my X-Box (I live in manchester uk). He uses the apple XV chip. Is this a good chip? am I going to have problems with it?

I don't care about Live I'm only interested in emulation of games I own for my snes and I want to be able to watch DivX movies.

the chip doesnt really dictate what you can do with your xbox...

once you have a chip, you flash it with a bios which enables you to run non-MS code. then you can use applications like XboxMediaCenter to watch divx files or various emulators for emulation.

chipping your box itself can be as simple as opening it up, removing a screw placing the chip on the motherboard and replacing the screw (using pogo-pins or no solder options)

to summerise:

any chip (except maybe very old ones) will work
modding yourself is very simple and there are loads of ways to get support

who is it and how much is e charging, chances are you can get a solderless modchip for the same price and wont have to worry about sending ya box to him or anything (whoever the installer is, im not trying to stop him buying from you, just giving another option for rizwanmalik100)

Charging 40 for apple chip and fitting. He lives close so I can take my x-box to him personally and he will do it in front of me.
