The lower the dB(A) the better. I've been looking for ages now for a fan with high CFM and low dB(A) but i cant find anything, i think im being far too picky and looking for something that most likely doesnt exist tongue.gif

EDIT: typo sad.gif

buy a good CFM 80mm Fan,

if it runs at 35dBa, at 12V

run it at a lower voltage, you'll still get a better CFM than the 70mm stock fan, but it will be quieter!

read the data sheets for the fans, you'll often see a curve of drive voltage Vs CFM Vs dBa noise,

lower voltage = lower CFM = lower dBa

but an 80mm fan will usually have a better CFM than a 70mm fan at max voltage

mine isn't too loud at 20% (stock xbox speed) and still cools me better than stock but i leave it at 50% or 100% and deal with the noise. at 100% my temps are all under 100 (normally 95-98 mobo, 96-99 cpu, 70-90 hdd)

it does sound like the ac is on at 100% tho heheh here is my fan: http://store.yahoo.c...fanblueled.html

Thing is there really isnt any decent 60mm fans to replace the stock with, i cant be doing with an 80mm butcher the case up fan, not to mention they all seem to have those ugly tacky looking LEDs in them and then the ones that dont have the LEDs in have terrible specs.

Stupid fans and stupid xbox dry.gif

just get an LED fan, and then take the LED's off
and u dont need to butcher the case to make it fit
just take outthe old fan, remove the clips from it (id suggest getting rid ofthe metal part of the case in front of the fan, allows for better air movement) and then cut a little off the hdd case
thats it

See now maybe im missing something, but how is cuttings bits away not classed as butchering blink.gif In my terms any part of the case being cut off is butchering.

Thats why i want a 60mm fan, so i can just do a straight exchange withing cutting anything away. But its also why my search for a fan is taking so long as most 60mm fans are terrible and not much better than the stock fan.

haha, it aint butchering, cuase tachnically the metal shielding isnt part of the case
u dont have to cut ne of the plastic case, and its optional to cut the metal sheilding (buts it simple, a 10 yr old with tin cutters could do it in 2 minutes) and then just use those same tin cutters and cut the hdd case holder, thats simple to, and none of it is noticable from the outside beerchug.gif
trust me, its not hard at all rotfl.gif rotfl.gif jester.gif
