i did a bit of searching but cannot find this problem. i'm trying to install a new 250gb hdd on an xbox. i did an install of a 160gb drive with slayers a few weeks ago and everything went fine. just backed up drive, swapped out with new one, formatted with slayers and bingo. this one i had a problem. i backed up old drive, put the new 250gb in, and started up with slayers install disk and got error 13 (dash problem). dont know what i'm missing, did same process as before.

hdd: Western Digital 250gb WD2500JBRTL
mod: Xecuter 2.3 pro with 4979.67 bios
Hdd se to cable select (same as I did with 160gb drive and worked fine, so dont know if thats the issue)
Slayers install burned onto dvd+rw (which xbox read before when i ftp'd in to backup original hdd)

Box boots up fine with original hdd, in both ms dash and xecuter mode. played a backup fine too, so the bios is working fine.

What am i missing?

you have your bios set to boot straight to a dashboard and to ignore anything in the dvd-tray

use xbtool and make sure you have something in the dvd field, otherwise it will ignore the dvd tray and boot straight from the hard drive

since there are no dashboards on the new hard drive you get a dash error. cool.gif

n/m, it was the media. for some damned reason his xbox drive always reads on the second tray load....so first load kept giving me error 13 which i could not get past. anyway, tried dvd+r and works. woohoo
