once upon a time i wrote a post about the best rom ever.
and i said chrono trigger. now things are different
thanks to someone.

even if its a iso not a rom.

Hideo kojima´s Snatcher has marked my heart with a very
good flavor. so good i started to yell to tv in the ending credits...

PLEASE I WANT MORE! WHY DID U HAVE TO FINISH?!

so i dont know how you do it but get it.

my neogenesis had problems with it but my gensx was flawless.

the game is so good that im sure it was the first of its kind.
i cant believe that game was out in 1993. i was a child who was
blinded by "Star fox"...instead of playing that cool Sega Cd game.

PLEASE PLAY IT...if you already did it... please comment in this post
about it.

and to those who havent...one clue... UNDERDOGS

iriez...you´re a snatcher.
Welcome to Neo Kobe.

I've owned at one time or another (when I sold games) I think 3 versions of this game. Saturn, PSX, and .... err... maybe just two. I believe it came out on the MSX and X86 as well.

Okay, so, I suck. What seperates this game from the rest? I've heard great things about it, but just doesn't seem to be my bag.

The MCD version never came out in Japan, which has always prevented me from playing that one. The Saturn one I might pick up.

Yeah, I've been hearing about this game since forever, but never really picked it up. Someone gave me a link to some abandonware site where they had this up for download, but I lost it, and my download's still incomplete. I'll get around to playing it sometime, but now on xbox! muhuhahahahhaa!

Why Should the Home of the Underdogs be kept a secret?? If it's on the Underdogs website, it had to have been cleared by the publisher... they don't post anything illegal. It's perfectly legit.

Here is the site.

http://www.xxx.org/

Here is the link to the game he's talking about (I've never played it).

ah i remember snatcher... wasn't that one of the earlier games created by Hideo Kojima?

kojima also made another great game around that time called "Policenauts"... it was available only in japan, but for the few people that got their hands on it, it remains a classic.

Wow, this is weird. I only have about 10 Sega CD games on my xbox, but this is one of them, and it's the only one I've really played, and I just started in on it about 4 days ago. I'm enjoying it much more than I expected to. So far it's running perfect on Neogenesis, had some weird save state problems but they got worked out.

Please dont link to sega cd .iso files.

I would have to see the writing to believe Konami gave that site permission to link to a copyrighted game.

It's a 'digital comic', for the lack of a better term. What separates the game from others like it is just how well done the story is, and how detailed the world is. You can use the info computer in the game to look up almost anything from politics, sports, art -- all of which form the rich tapestry behind the main action of the game.

In short: It sucks you in and you don't want to leave. The fact that the game interface is nothing more than a primative 'choose your own adventure' is testamount to how convincing and good the meat of the game is.

Snatcher has two other things in it's favor -- The english version (Sega CD) is also the most complete version of the game, from the new opening taken from the manga, to the entirety of Act 3, which was written well after the game debuted on the MSX (there's a few naughty things removed, but they really aren't all that important).

The english version also has (or had) some of the best voice acting for a translated game -- remarkable for a US game from 1993, and it's taken more than a decade for the US game industry to catch up. The shitty voice acting on the US version of Biohazzard (Resident Evil) pretty much set back the quality of game voice acting for YEARS.

Last but not least, the game is firmly set in the future of Hideo Kojima's Metal Gear universe, with all sorts of hidden references and in-jokes.

Here's hoping Kojima-san and Konami revisit Snatcher and it's semi-prequel Policenauts at some point.

Regards,
Rob S.
