Hey, I just got my new Xbox yesterday (my last one got stolen) and now I want to get into modding. I haven't done any of this before, and I am just starting to learn. I have built computers so I am fairly competent at assembly and disassembly of things like the Xbox. Some of my basic questions are:

-What type of mod chips can i put in that are solder-free, where should I buy them, and what are the advantages of one chip over another.
-same question with hard drives.
-what do I need to do in order to make these mods work, do i need to re-program the Xbox? Hook it to my computer?
-what are "dashboards?"
-should i use an auto air cooler?
-Is there anyone that you know in Rhode Island that can help me?

I realize that these questions are probably really ridiculous to you guys, but I really want to start doing this, and I appreciate any help that you can give me.
