I have backups of my games - some are NTSC and some are PAL.

I usually set my XBox to output at PAL60 so it looks good on my Sony Windescreen biggrin.gif

If I had a cheaper UK TV that didn't support NTSC or PAL60 - and I set my XBox to a normal PAL output - would the NTSC games still work?

I have an XEcuter (original) and EvoXDash

Cheers

Yes it would still work but if it's a really old sucky TV, you would only get black and white...

How comes? Will the XBox not force the output to PAL?

If u mean bout the NTSC games, yes it will force to PAL from what I understand
but it will be converting to PAL 50hz which is slower than NTSC which runs at 60hz
hence the not so perfect signal conversion...

even if u get a separate converter u may still have problems with certain games due
to the different speed timings used between NTSC and PAL -this is also the reason why
PAL games r released later than NTSC- developers have to retime the game to work at
the slightly lower speed and they sometimes also make PAL versions harder as u have
a slight bit more time to react to the action onscreen...

hope this helps with your quezzie!

nuff to say that ur better running your NTSC games at PAL 60 to get the least problems
and the most out of them...

What about the al PAL60hz than? if PAL games where made for 50Hz pal machines, why does the xbox have a PAL60hz option?

what about the conversion then?

I live in belgium so only pal games here, but most of my games are ntsc as a prefere ntsc (just gives me a feeling i got the real deal, not some converted crap) but thats just my opinion.

I guess they take NTSC timings for PAL 60

lottsa things can be done via the software

a while back I was complaining bout Tekken 4 (PS2) speeds in the PAL version of the game
even setting low res textures in the PS2 boot screens didn't help and there's no real PAL 60
setting either but recently I've discovered that there is a NTSC setting in the game itself which boosts the speed nicely biggrin.gif which makes the game kikass!

this is on a PAL PS2 with a PAL copy of Tekken 4 and it runs like its NTSC counterpart.....
..... so go figure!
