Ok, haven't touched the new consoles yet (PS2 onwards) but the X-Box is starting to grab my attention, does this sound about right...

Grab used X-Box (hey i'm poor!), order in the Matrix (no wires right?), install Matrix & then spare 80GB HD.

From there I can either 1. Copy originals to HD (heard originals won't work with mod chip installed?), 2. copy over ISO's (need to extact from ISO?)

For the copying part I understand a standard cat5 cable to a hub (router in my case) will work fine right? Will the router auto assign an IP to the X-Box? What abouts internet access (online games) via the router? or do you need another cable/xdsl modem for access?

You can play originals as long as you don't swap out the DVD-ROM drive, but I am sure you know that by now because you took NOObvin's advice. Cheers from the deserts of Africa.
