assuming no modchip ever installed.... Anyone know what's the error you would (onscreen) get with a bad eeprom, if you got video? Would there be an error code, a notification or something, would the box turn on?

corrupt or bad eeprom you would simply have a flashing RED only power led (NO GREEN) and no video whatsoever

Easily fixed however

I tend to disagree, for now:-)

Moodeed my little nbephew's box 2 weeks ago and he's crying now because of the red only light. I took the XBox home with me to check things out, reading reading reading ....

Easy? Not yet:-0)

Easy if you know how. Patch your valid EEPROM backup to cromwell-patched and flash it to the modchip.

I also hear that the latest XBtool lets you embed an EEPROM image.

Exactly. I'm lost as to where to get it on my Executor2.3 Lite+ modded xbox.

I have no programmer for the chip. Can you burn a CD and pray it loads? My evox CD does not load.

Without a programmer, you will need to find a friend with a xbox to put your chip in and flash with the eeprom embedded X2 (or the linux bios). Then put the chip back in your xbox.
