Kinda hard to determine when you have not given us any details. Read the compatibility lists thread and find out the proper rom/settings for your games.

i checked the compatibility list.. it says

The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time
Emulator Version: Surreal 1.0
Rom Version: Unknown
Rom Settings: Unknown
Comments: When you Input your name you can only see the letter your hovering over, But after you input you name its OK.
1964, Works with no major glitches or texture problems.
Project 64, Crashes/ Locks up Xbox.
UltraHLE, Crashes/ Locks up Xbox.

i am using 1964 and after it says "Loading Legend of Zelda..."

it goes to a black screen and locks the xbox up.

I am using the default settings in 1964

Bad rom, loads and runs fine for me other than the known load time for the items menu.

Check the rom with GoodN64 to see if its a good dump and not a hacked one.

Make sure you use
Legend of Zelda, The - Ocarina of Time (U) (V1.0) [!].zip
use goodn64 (& goodwindows)
use 1964
Standard settings
I used Azimer audio plugin which causes some 2d scenes to look funky where as pj64rsp plugin the 2d scenes are fine but sound skips occasionally (The 2d scenes play fine).

I completed it
