like I did )

Always remember to check your contrast dial on your SmartXX if you have not text showing on the LCD. If your using HDD cable (or any other multi strand cable ) check you have no stray strands and this also has been raised as a problem on other forums.
If you require a wiring diagram please send me a mail to email@example.com

I don't want to cut a hole in my new aluminum case before I double check. I don't have the chip or the panel yet and won't for a couple of weeks but case work is in progress.
Do you have to use the ugly plastic trim to mount it?

Is the "no text" issue common? I just ordered my crystalfontz yesterday but i'd like to get as much heads up as possible before starting the install. What cable is recommended so far? I guess i should search the forum before asking these questions. Feel free to flame me.
Edit: damn, had to update my signature. it's a smartxx now.

IDE / CAT5 / wrapping wire is fine.
and if you don't have any characters displayed that normaly means you need to change your contrast on your SmartXX, it is very accurate though so you only need to turn it about 1/10 mm at a time
piccies of mine so far, as you can see I used wax to secure the wires :
