I am looking to purchase a Xecuter2.3b+ mod chip to mod my Xbox. Is owning the modchip illegal? What are the legal things I can do to a modded xbox? Thanks

Modchip = Legal
Hacked Bios bypasses MS Securities = ILLEGAL

But, with a modchip and the cromwell bios(Legal) you can run linux. That is what Modchips are designed for wink.gif

Owning a mod chip is not illegal in the US. Might be in some other countries. I'm not sure.

As far as illegal and legal it's pretty iffy on a lot of stuff. Some of the programs that run on the Xbox as well as the bios are illegal to distribute. I would assume that would make owning them illegal as well. Could you get caught with them? Probably not.

Is copying games to your HD and playing them fromt here legal? If you own them sure. If not, no. I guess it depends on what you plan to do with it.

I'd never go as far as to say, you CAN'T get caught. A kid did up this way. Granted he advertised in the paper. Included in his ad was the list of rented games copied to the HDs. He could also add more rentals for a price. wink.gif
