My brother's xbox isn't booting up. It's getting an error 7 (HDD time-out)and the hard drive (Samsung 120gb) is making a constant ticking noise. It will boot up maybe 1 out of 10 tries. This means the hard drive is failing, doesn't it? I was wondering about something though. One of his friends was swapping out dvd drives with him, and I believe he might have done it while the xbox was powered on (yes, he's a moron). Could this have caused the hard drive to start failing? He might have also unplugged the hard drive while it was on. Would either of these cause the hard drive to fail? I would just like to be able to tell him whether he should kill his friend or just try to get a replacement from Samsung (or both).
