I've just bought a new HDD (IDE) cable, its still 40 pin but instead of 40 way its 80 (2 connections per pin instead of one). This is supposed to increase game loading time from the HDD compared to the normal 40.

Anyone have any experience with this? I don't want to bother opening it up and messing around for little gains, its already quick.

Thanks.

When I did this mod, my ftp transfer speeds to/from the xbox doubled. This could have been some strange coincidence, but it seems to be very consistant now. I get about 4-6 MB/sec uploading to the box and 11-12MB/sec downloading from it. Never got anywhere near that before the cable upgrade.

No one has ever been able to prove that an ATA 133 cable has an increase in performance.

I'll time a large transfer to and from XBox - PC (may be limited by network), and some game loading times with both cables, then let you guys know the results...

on xboxhacker theyve already tested this theory and they have concleuded there is no actual gain... so its not worth opening your xbox.
