One of my friends is getting a new Xbox and wants to transfer his old stock HD into the new Xbox. Is this problematic in any way, or are you able to swap stock drives without a problem? I couldn't think of a reason not to do it, but I want to ask and make sure before I tell him to go ahead and swap.

Is either Xbox modded? Why does he want to swap?

HDs are locked by codes that are held in the EEPROM on the mobo of the box. So if his HD is locked when he pulls it from his Xbox the other Xbox won't be able to unlock it. If it's unlocked and the new Xbox isn't modded it won't be able to be locked and will be useless as well.

Gotcha. Neither Xbox is modded, otherwise I would just copy the whole E partition. He just wanted his saves to be able to play his stuff till he gets his new Xbox modded. I will just mod the new Xbox then FTP his stuff. Thanks for the reply.

Use a memory card if you can borrow one.
