I have added a 160GB hard drive and have it up and working now but was wondering if there Is a way to find out if your format worked and gave you the full 160 Gb since it usually only see something like 137GB. I tried using flashXP but does not give you folder size only file sizes.

If you are using the evox dashboard you can tell in the evox settings or right on the skin, if you are using ava I believe QWIX will tell you the size as well.

Yes, as stated some/most evox skins will display this...but I can tell you right now if you did not use a bios that allows more then 137 GB it will not be displayed.

yes I remember seeing that on there now. OK bear with me here I checked my evox dash setting for the harddrive and it said this:

c: 342.720.512
e: 5.118.738.432
f: 129.403.191.296
g: 0
x: 786.300.928
y: 786.300.928
z: 786.300.928

Im guessing that these are KB but I cant seem to get my calculator to give me any total that looks normal. Does anyone know if this looks like it is using all of my 160 GB?

THanks for everyones help thus far by the way!!!

sportbilly - you need a BIOS that supports a hard drive larger than 137 Gb.

I don't know all the details for this (there are, however, tons of guides that can help you), but you need to patch a BIOS to support >137Gb, then reflash.

Here's a thread to check out if you already have data on your hard drive:

Damn this is driving me crazy. Ok I just went ahead and reformatted the drive since I just started and not much was on it. So now im going to put 4983 bios on the ex2light chip and from what I have read I need to use xbtool in order to add the lba48 option to the bios file right? Well when I tell xbtool to open the 4983 file I get kernal not supported so it doesnt load the file. Please help

use 4983.06, it has LBA-48 in it for large F

if you want to colormod or change the boot sequence use 4981.06, xbtool will be able to edit this one

OK all is well now Thanks for all the help. If I may say it would be good idea if someone could update the noob first timers guides because of all these new versions of things out makes it harder to follow now beacuse you have to go back and modify some of your actions for new technology/files etc. This is not to knock the great work by the people that actually spent the time to make such a guide and I know it can be a pain to keep rewriting the guide everytime something new happens.

Thanks to you all biggrin.gif
