Hi,

Bit of a problem - I chucked a disc in the DVD drive and ripped it to the HD. Then I press eject, and

THE TRAY WAS EMPTY!!

I think the disc is stuck inside the drive somewhere.

How should I go about getting the disc out? sad.gif

If you feel comfortable opening the Xbox, and taking off the top of the DVD-ROM, that's a surefire way to get it out.

Alternatively, you could hit it and hope it pops down - blueinfinity did that to a "broken" xbox he got off eBay, and it worked perfectly after the disc came out.

Eeeee. Okay. No way I can just shove a knife in there? I forgot to mention that the disc is still read by the xbox when I close the tray, so it must be stuck up there somewhere unsure.gif

Failin that I'll try your suggestions

Hmm, why don't I think of the simplest things first.

Sure, try this:
Turn on the Xbox and open the DVD tray.
Pull out the power cord while it's on, so that the tray stays open.
**Gently** probe with some thin object that won't damage the DVD.
See if you can get it to pop out.

I am thinking Q-tips may be a good way to grasp the disc...nice and soft yet they are firm enough to grab...

I would just open the xbox (sounds like it has been opened before because of a larger hdd) and pop the screws out of the external dvd casing...open it and there it will be...dohhhh....brahm2 suggested...but it is easy and you won't scratch the dvd all to hell

Do you by any chance have a thompson? I have a thompson and mine does this repeatedly...Probably 6 out of 10 times....I removed the disc by taking apart the Drive..But its really annoying doing this every time the drive fucks up...I have no clue what causes this, as you were saying yours still reads the dvd in the drive....mine does this also....Really annyoing problem

The box has been modded with a 160GB HD ... by someone else though.

Meaning that they arent sharp at the tips...but arent extremely flimsy...wouldn't take a rocket scientist to figure that one out lol

Yours did this only once correct? Se mine does it repeatedly..and i cannot think of a reason why...maybe the alignment is off or something but the disc is definately not sticky enough to get stuck on the stabilizer
