Well I tried all day and I just can't unlock my hard drive! I let it sit for an HOUR on the dash and it won't spin down. Every few seconds it keeps making that clicky hard drive noise. Tried hot swapping it to my computer a few times and it won't detect. I just can't get it to unlock. Any help I would REALLY appreciate, thank you in advance.

What are you unlocking it with? Evox or Configmagic? Do you have the hdd key?

I'm talking about unlocking it to hot-swap it. (Like how you wait 5-10 mins then unplug and plug into PC IDE cable)

have you tried - booting to dash then going into memory management?
From main menu - up,a,a - wait till loading clickings stop and unplug h/d (do it straight and quick)

Also on PC side - switch memory test skipping OFF and use this as Crtl/Brk point, use a UDMA66 rated cable (80core) and PRIMARY IDE channel - don't work on secondry or with standard 40 core cable with mine whereas this works every time.

Good Luck!

- Pull ide cable on xbox dvd drive.
- Boot xbox. You get error 12
- Boot PC, hit pause before bios starts detecting hardware (if you're on win xp you can also just let win boot normally)
- Pull xbox hdd ide cable. Plug xbox hdd onto PC ide cable.
- hit space (or pause) to continue booting PC (if you let win xp boot normally, go into device manager and refresh hardware)

NB. Letting win boot normally before hotswapping might work on older win's also, but I havent tried.

inserting the IDE cable tends to lock windows - best done at startup

didn't know about the error 12 thing though - kewl

If you use the Primary IDE for the Xbox then you can swap your PC H/D for your CD drive and boot the Linux HD maker without swapping cables about too much

On Each connect/disconnect you run a slight risk of currupting data (never seen it happen) and a Fairly large risk of crashing the drives IDE controller (oh, yeah done that LOTS) - a good quality cable seems to reduce both.
