installed UDE using the new xboxhdm + UDE package
and went fine.

using ava as dash with 4920 ms live 1.0 dash -- runs fine, too.
xbox media player, kava-x do, too!
BUT several games (top spin, unreal championship, dtm race driver) lock up
which worked using the older st.db audio hack!

using pbl 1.4.1 with modified bfm x2-4981 on 160gb harddisk (correctly formatted) in a xbox v1.1

why doesn't these games work? what went wrong? sad.gif

your help is really appreciated

Yeah, I got that too, with Vice City and some other game. I had the same stuff, except a retail HD and PBL 1.3 running X2 4979 (and Evox M7 as well, which did the same thing). The problem was really random, rare enough to not bother me much. Hell, just pretend it's running XP or something.
I'd even go so far as to say there are too many variables involved for this problem to be solved...

If you guys are truly having problems with these games, make up a little list of those not running and some of us with UDE and same titles can see if it is really the game or your setup.

BTW, someone stated Vice City was giving you problems. None here.
Same goes for the guy having problems with Unreal Championship, no problems.
Here's my setup to compare:
K: 4034
Tray Closed: UDE - PBL 1.4.1 - X2.4983 - Avalaunch
Tray Open: Retail Dash 5960

would you explain more, how do the game lock up? on loading the game? in the middle of the game?

what dashboard are you using when load the game? u-x, evox, ava, mxm, thc?
try to load the game with different dashboard.

if still don't work, i would suggest you to update date and time then try to load the game again.

if still don't work, try to load the game using the game disc...

you probably come into a narrower path for solution. smile.gif good luck.

By definition, if you're able to use audio exploit, your clock must be set.
This is no longer guaranteed with the UDE. Could be these games are clock sensitive. Just a thought.

Or just run a dash such as Avalaunch that will automatically set your clock on boot if not already done so.

Although it now also appears that if the clock isn't set, the BIOS also no longer attempts to boot d:\default.xbe from the DVD drive.  Hence the reason peoples game sav exploits are failing them when the clock is unset.

Grospolina, rmenhal,

In view of this, would it be possible to read the clock state and determine if is unset, and set it only if necessary, within the bert_ate_ernie.xtf font?

Maybe the clock state could be read by a BIOS call, or directly from the clock chip. The Bert and Ernie Reloaded fonts set the clock with the code below. Surely there's a reverse of this that'll read the clock state from the clock chip. (This strikes me as a lot more reliable than trying to locate the BIOS passed argument.)
CODE

%ifdef RELOADED
       call    reset_clock
