After I tweaked my original dvd-drive to death, I tried to replace it .

I got a DVD Drive for free from a friend and used the "LG DVD 8160B-tutorial" and the german source of the tut to install it. it was a toshiba drive.
I said it "was" cause now its also a dead drive (killed the eject function of the drive).

I don't want a third DVD-Drive funeral , so plz tell me whats the easiest way and the best drive for it ?

I only use my xbox for xbmc. I never play games

the tut says, I have to switch the motor of the samsung 616t.
why ?
have I to do this generally or is this only beacuse of the firmware flash ?

Perhaps I will use a "SD-616EEP" this time. I can't flash this one, right ?

Nah ya can't flash a SD-616EEP, just the F or T.

I'm pretty sure the motor reversal jobby only needs to be done if you flash the firmware...
