I have a samsung xbox dvd-drive which of course doesn't play DVD+r/rw which is the only kind of burner I have. I heard something about be able to mask your DVD+RW as a DVD-ROM and was wondering if this would enable my samsung drive could read that and be fooled by it.

Also I need to know how to set this up if the drive can be fooled.

Thanks biggrin.gif

what dvd burn do you have? there's certain firmware hack's you have to reflash to enable bittsetting...

it does work though, i did it w/ my nec1100a drive...

if you are using a nec1x00a drive, here's my thread from dcemulation.com

QUOTE ("MKE's thread from dcemulation")
For the hacked firmware, go here

http://www.herrie.or...load&cid=30#cat

(the first one is the one i would use, but read through the release notes and you may find something different)

and for the flashing prog. go here

http://etna.rpc1.org/nec/

and for the prog to change the booktype,

http://www.dvdinfopro.com/

on the 2nd page i gave you, at the bottom it tells you what the switches are (and you dont have to put it on a bootdisk, i just booted to dos, browsed to the folder, and did it from there)

hope that helps, and MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR ORIG. FIRMWARE!.

i just did that to my nec1100a drive (only i used the hp300 firmware) and it works great, and hope that hleps and when you do that, you dont have to do it again, it stays until you change it.

the actual thread link is: http://www.dcemulati...etting&start=40

hpe that helps

i've never tried it but read some stuff on this. you need to change the booktype of the disk. i know you can get hacked firmware for your burner to support this if it doesn't normally but there needs to be a version for your drive.

just search google for "dvd booktype"

EDIT: NEVERMIND rolleyes.gif
