Ok, my old xbox's hdd decided to take a crap on me, and broke, so i bought a new one, well the thing is, i have my new xbox, and this big piece of crap waiting to be tinkered with. Is there a way i could dump a 80-120gb hdd in my broken xbox that wont boot to the dash, and then make it run EvoX??

Not without some way to run unsigned code. You will need a modchip or one of the other various exploits to get it to run unsigned code. You can then burn evox to a cd-rw and format the hdd.

Yeah, if you have a flashed modchip, you should be able to boot an evox boot disk and format the drives from there.
