just wondering if there was any program or dos commands or anything that would limit the namelengths to be 35 chars, a ~01 then the .zip or in my case.smc for huge archives of roms, etc.

ie:
super star wars - empire strikes ba~01.zip
super star wars - empire strikes ba~02.zip

because the onyl renaming programs i can find cut the name off to be "super star wars - empire strikes back(.smc then report the next file as an error, if anyone knows a way to adapt it so i can get these numbers, i'd greatly appreciate it

Use the goodtools to organise your roms, when using it from the commandline there is an option to force the filenames to be Xbox compatible.
