correct me if I'm wrong, but I think its the bios that gets detected by XBLive...not the chip. Right? If it was the chip itself, then everyone would just flash their tsop to play on Live. Only thing that might happen is we get some kind of phantom bios that can piggyback ontop of the original and make itself invisible to Live. Of course I'm not too familiar with the way BIOS's work so I can't be sure thats possible.

it's not the modchip beign detected. technically any chip, even the xodus chip is not detected if you use the original bios. now what you want to say is will we ever have a bios not detectable by live. let's hope so.

no it will get detected if its enabled when you go on xblive. Every modchip has an unsigned BIOS installed on it that lets you play backups. Its this unsigned bios that gets detected, not the Dashboard (evolutionX).

they could easily scan the HD for abnormal files, like .xbe's or dumped games.
then wipe the drive to teach us a lesson.

but it would be really bad PR

no, i mean if you have something like the xecuter or evox bios on your chip it will get detected. i'm only talking about chips w/ flashing. if you put something like the original M$ bios on teh chip it would run fine, but that'd be retarded wink.gif

We need to find out what "exactly" Live checks in the retail bios, before a workaround can be created in a hacked bios.

Even after this is found, I am sure MS$ will just change it...

the bios gets cached when the box boots up....so if we could patch this back to original bios,no backups would work....
i'm sure that there'll be a solution,but how long?

No matter what we do to hack the box M$ will do things in consequences to stop us hacking their baby. They are not dumb they know how we hack them and react in consequences.

It's a cat and mouse game. We find a way to hack they find a way to prevent this, we find a solution to bypass their protection they put another barrier... etc... etc...

I know it's sad but it is what keeps me and others hackers alive. wink.gif
