Hello, I love all of the emulators that are done for the xbox. How about adding 1 more. MUGEN would be an awesome addition to the collection. I know Xport (or some-1 else on that skill level) could easily Port /convert it over for use on the box since there are PC/Linux versions of this game. There are hundreds of backgrounds & characters already done. That way no one has 2 create everthing from scratch. Like BOR. So how about .. Any thoughts people.

for those of you that dont know what MUGEN is here's a brief description.

M.U.G.E.N 2D fighting game engine created by Elecbyte that lets you create your own characters and stages. Oriented more towards flexibility, making characters with M.U.G.E.N may initially seem a daunting task, but once you understand the basics, learning the rest of the tricks should come naturally.

You can control almost every aspect of the engine to suit your tastes. That's the primary goal of MUGEN. Since this is a work in progress, there are many things that it can and cannot do, but here's a short list of some of the things you can do...

Customizable title and select screens, life and power bars, game sound effects, and fonts.
Characters can have any number of sounds and sprites of any size.
Up to 12 different color schemes for each character.
Background music can be mp3, mod, midi or CD audio.
Supports keyboard, joystick and Playstation joypads.

Use up to 6 buttons for a character (7 if you count the Start button).
Regular moves/Special moves/Supers.
Projectiles.
Multiple air jumps.
Move cancel/2-in-1 or whatever you want to call it.
Multi-part moves/throws.
What your character can do is defined by how you build his state machine.

U can learn something from everybody.

P.S. almost forgot if a port is done, how about networking the game . Internet fighting without xbox live ..way kool smile.gif.

Sounded pretty neat, too bad it is dead. Is the current version still available for download? Maybe somebody could restart the project or something. I love 2d fighters, and am saddened by their endangered status in gaming.

the current version could probably be downloaded on many mugen fansites,
as far as restarting the project.. the only thing possible is doing that open-mugen as described above.

still to this day i wonder why elecbyte just left.. they just stopped updating and left..

not much love for their fanbase i guess, must have been all about the money for them.
they could atleast have made the source available.

money.. sigh.

freeware is not the same thing as open source wink.gif to be opensource it has to be freeware, but the reverse does not hold true

And it wasnt even freeware, it was like.. licenseware?
you could use it to a certain date and then the license expired and you were not allowed to use it anymore or something?
sure it worked but you were not allowed to use it anymore..

elecbyte = idiots

I wish it could be brought over.

Um...there have been huge wars between creators that have gone down in the mugen world from like 2000-2001. After all of that nonsense ended, a couple of folks decided to hack the linux version so that it could work for windows (cuz everyone was getting tired of waiting for elecbyte to release it). AFter that, elecbyte said they hit a "snag" but in reality, they just got tired of dealing with the bullshit and dipped out. If those guys didn't hack mugen...it would still be alive. But no one cares about it anymore, it was at its height of populararity for about a year and a half (00-01) but now there are a few n00bs who find out about it and love it.

They later realize that the mugen world is currently a ghost town and go back to xbox emulation. tongue.gif

Lets continue this discussion, maybe it can become a pinned topic named
"Why mugen is not an emulator and why it will never be ported"
wink.gif

Um...there have been huge wars between creators that have
gone down in the mugen world from like 2000-2001.
Translation : Nooooo i makeh teh Dark-Ryu!! i hate yoo!!
yes you may maek the dark Ken.. but not teh darkryu mad.gif

After all of that nonsense ended, a couple of folks decided to hack the
linux version so that it could work for windows
Remember that that was like the 3rd linux version elecbyte released,
and then suddenly they just disapeared without any word on the windows version,
and didnt they like ask for donations so they could buy their expensive windows compile kit or something?
(answer: yes they did)

(cuz everyone was getting tired of waiting for elecbyte to release it).
after a year of no updates whatsoever one might start to wonder about the future of the mugen project. wink.gif

After that, elecbyte said they hit a "snag"
but in reality, they just got tired of dealing with the bullshit and dipped out.
actually that was never proven, elecbyte just took their ball and went home, its kinda stupid to quit your project because 1 person hacked it,
if your story is true then they simply used that as an excuse to leave, they allready quit long before it got hacked.

If those guys didn't hack mugen...it would still be alive.
No, Mugen releases allready stopped way before it was hacked..
wasnt Linux Mugen hacked like a year after elecbyte disapeared or something?

But no one cares about it anymore, it was at its height of populararity
for about a year and a half (00-01)
Those were good times.. well except for all those hundreds of Dark-Ryu releases tongue.gif

but now there are a few n00bs who find out about it and love it.
They later realize that the mugen world is currently a ghost town
and go back to xbox emulation. tongue.gif
but not after making a request here for a port of the mugen "emulator" as topic starter called it biggrin.gif
