@ kingroach

You probably already saw it, but I released v1.7.
The big news are linux based locking/unlocking tools available from boot option 3). The DOS boot is now option 4)

These linux tools get the HDD password directly from the eeprom, meaning no password typing. When locking the tool also sets a Master Password ('XBOXSCENE') that will let you unlock the HDD without the eeprom or the HDD password.

I recommend using these tools instead of unlockx that has made quite a number of users pull their hair out by now...

if you had your eeprom.bin in the linux>eeprom folder and your hd is still unlocked then write "6" and press enter. xboxhdm will calculate your hd key and password and unlock the hd.Write down the info.

Shouldn't that be locked? smile.gif

ldots,

Nice work. The things that I want to see in the next version(if there will be such a thing) of your UDE tools would be the added functionality of building the initrd that contains what is in the xboxhdm(including the eeprom.bin). Then I can just save away this initrd which is specific to a particular Xbox. It can be used to rescue or upgrade HD for each individual Xbox.

I'm loving the work you've put into this along with the other guys. I do have one question though. I can't seem to find any doc about using the clone hd option. Whats the drive chain suppose to be like when using this option. I know I'll have 2 hd's and one cd drive, But whats master/slave and primary/secondary order?

@ kingroach
Glad to see the update smile.gif
Any chance you could add the link to the
official xboxhdm tutorial since building a HDD and restore C: is just some of the things xboxhdm does?
I think it should also be considered a (stable smile.gif) alternative to HDDriver and fatxplorer with the xbrowser making file management pretty easy.
Not to mention the UDE installer for xboxhdm.

@ okayama
It's briefly mentioned in the root post of the xboxhdm thread (link above). But there is not a hole lot to it. You will be prompted to choose your source and destination drive. From my PC :
CODE
  __   ___                 _   _______  ___  ___      _
  \ \ / / |               | | | |  _  \ |  \/  |     | |
   \ V /| |__   _____  __ | |_| | | | | | .  . | __ _| | _____ _ __
   /   \| |_ \ / _ \ \/ / |  _  | | | | | |\/| |/ _' | |/ / _ \ '__|
  / /^\ \ |_) | (_) >  <  | | | | |/ /  | |  | | (_| |   <  __/ |
  \/   \/_.__/ \___/_/\_\ \_| |_/___/   \_|  |_/\__,_|_|\_\___|_|

This will let you Clone an existing Xbox HD
onto a blank drive. Be carefull you get the devices
right or you could loose data...
I have found the following devices on your computer :

Primary Master   (/dev/hda) : ST3160023A, ATA DISK drive
            Pirmary Slave    (/dev/hdb) :
            Secondary Master (/dev/hdc) : HL-DT-STDVD-ROM GDR8161B, ATAPI CD/DVD-ROM drive
            Secondary Slave  (/dev/hdd) : Hewlett-Packard DVD Writer 300, ATAPI CD/DVD-ROM drive

Enter the source drive [hda hdb hdc hdd] :

Since this is just a clone the tool does not need to access the fatx filesystem, and therefore it doesn't matter which ide channel your source and destination drives are located on.
Of course you should be carefull choosing the right devices. I would remove your regular PC HDD just to be safe...

I added the link to your official thread and UDE installer packager. I am also trying to write same kind of picture tutorial for UDE and clone hard drive.

I feel like a moron asking this. But can I use this to upgrade the HD in my 1.6 xbox?

I have modded close to 30 xboxes with softmods, but just ran into my first 1.6 box the other day. Upto then I was using LiveInfo to calculate the new HD key and unlockx to lock/unlock the drives. LiveInfo however won't read the 1.6 eeprom file. So will this package be able to do this?

Great tutorial, and thnx again for the package ldots!

I tried the same setup, but I keep getting "Invalid Choice" every time I select that option. Come to find out, about half the options are saying that now. I didn't use to give me that response.

Yes, I'm a moron. I totaly forgot to unlock the hd. Clone hd working now, but I do have another question. I have an original 8gig stock hd I unlocked a year ago and formatted for my PC. I'm wanting to use that one as a backup drive "strickly MS hd, no exploits" for when I decide to renew my xbox live sub. I figured I should use it for something instead of it collecting dust in my PC. Every time I finish option building from scratch and formatting C and E, I go to lock the drive and it keeps telling my "Device is not ready"

Look at the "Final tips" section in the xboxhdm thread (1st link in my sig). Your drive is probably freeze locked.

I just don't get it. Don't you have to hotswap when using xboxhdm? Or is that what you're doing in the picture where the xbox and pc is?
You must do it when cloning a hdd at least, right?
