I recently bought an XBOX online that has been softmodded with mechassault and action replay. When I got it however it is telling me Error 16 so I can't get into it to get the eeprom.bin file. Is there any way that I can still use xboxhdm to re-do the hardrive?
Yes, by hotswap and only hotswap. Unless you buy a modchip. PM me if you need more details.

"The E-folder can be left empty." << Does this mean NOTHING in the efolder is important? Important in a sense of getting the xbox to work again. I dont care about savegames, settings, musik or porn pict.... äh family pictures "
----------- Original Post --- I dont mind if there i still something to say about it -----
This is a very long posting. I would appreciate it if you took your time and read it. Thank you very much in advance.
I am trying to change my Harddrive from the Stock 8 gb to a Maxtor 160 gb. I used the nknave .4.5 installer with splinter cell. And the softmod worked fine. But now i am just stuck. So much information and i have no idea (most of the time atleast) wich is relevant to my case.
Can someone telling me what i am doing wrong? I almost read every damn tutorial about hdd changing i could found on google or with help from other boards and guys. But no matter what i do there is always something that i dont understand OR that doesnt work like in the tutorial described. And no, i am not a 45 year old dumbass (no offense to the 45 year olds out there ) who never worked with a computer.
One problem for example:
At the moment i am trying to build that ISO file with XBOXHDM1.9
So far everything sounded pretty easy. I copied the C drive in the C Folder. Same with E. Then i copied the backup of the eeprom.bin to the eeprom folder. So far so good. After that i was curious about the size of those 3 directories: 1,87 GB.
My first thought: %&&/(&""§§434?=0.
After hitting my pillow a few times i decided to look around for thing i can delete. I found the XBoxMedia Center, A few save files from different emulator, the backup i already copied to the pc, and some other stuff from applications i used on the old hdd. So i cleaned almost the whole E Folder (not the drive in the xbox - so this remains intact. I only want to create the iso at the moment. so i dont care about the box itself. if you understand what i mean.)
Then i checked the Filesize again. Still to big. So the next thing ive done was looking at the udata and tdata folder. The first question that came to my mind was: Wtf is in those folders. I found out that the savegames from my xboxgames are stored in udata. So ... i deleted them aswell.
NOW i checked the filesize again. STILL 890 MB. How on earth should i get this down to under 700 MB?
This brings me to one important question: Whats in tdata? Because there is a folder with a size of more than 400 MB. Its called "4d530064" If i could delete this everything would be fine. But i guess this is no good idea since i have no glue whats in there. (some files are called: patch, contentmeta, warlock ...)
Is it possible to boot from a DVD? Just make the iso like described and burn it on a DVD-R instead of and CD-R. Will that work? This way i could transfer the iso with my 1gb usb stick to a friend and burn it there. (no dvd recorder - dont need one... well now i do.)
But the easiest way would be to delete something in the tdata folder. If you can name something.
After around 100 pages of great help from all of you guys ... PLEASE dont stop now

In the meantime a new question came up. I hope you dont mind if i am asking again.
Because i couldnt find the eeprom (because i didnt made a back up when i softmodded the box. I did backup the orig. ms dash.) i copied the splinter cell save and launcher file again to the box and startet the SID menü from the splinter cell load screen again. There i chose the Backup eeprom entry. Then i recieved the location where its gonna be saved. After it was done i rebooted the xbox and found the eeprom in the specified folder. Is this the right one or has it been modified during the softmod? Does the softmod installer even modify the eeprom? If not, then this question will be very unnescessary
