Hey i was reading that handy FAQ guide and the definition for Radio Shack is -The place not to buy LEDs......


I was wondering...Why is this? I accually planned on going there and buying me some LEDs mainly because its the only place I know of....

Cause they have a low mcd usually and they are way overpriced. Get some off ebay lsdiodes.com

Way too expensive for the quality they sell. You can get them on the internet for way cheaper along with much better quality.

I went to the local dollar store and bought a bunch of those led flashlight keychain thingys and just took the leds out of them. They're the exact same things and i think i paid about 35 cents each for them. They were clearing them out.

hey that sounds pretty smart never thought of that. Do they still flash when they're in the xbox or is the keychain only.

u can buy them off the net or like ne electronics store, resistors bacsially stop too much ''current'' from getting to wahtever u want, (i think) lol

whoops i thought u said where shud i get them lol, i just test differnt ones but there is probably a better way

Resistors limit electrical current so that you don't burn out your LEDs from shooting too much power through them.

To know what resistors to get, you need to know the specs of the LEDs you will be buying, how many you are hooking up in one circuit, and the forward voltage of the source you're hooking it up to.. this sounds complicated now, but there is a whole thread for resistor calculation with a lot of good links:
