Use crossover for xbox to xbox or straight-through for xbox to hub to xbox.

try circuit city, its like 7cents a foot, or home depot, and i think they will cap it for you.

Also local computer shops can be a good place to get them. That is if you have them where you live. I can definately tell you where not to buy one, Best Buy.

Just get a normal lan cable or use one you have laying aroung and cut off one end. Then get some connectors and a crimper for $5-10 and crimp one on the bare end. You can even buy one 50ft normal cable and make 2 25ft crossovers. Or get a cheap 4-port hub for $10-20. Use google to show you what the wires should look like for a crossover and crimp away.

at eb games they sell 100 foot crossover cables for 20 bucks and 50 foot for 10. or maybe not crossover, the kind you need a router for.

Or be totally ghetto and clip the end off one your existing straight through cables, strip the wires on both the exposed ends, then re-wire them so it is a cross over cable. Boom! Free crossover cable!

Forgive me if im wrong, my last networking class was like 5 years ago, but I think you may have got your cables switched around.

Time to go back to class I guess... he's right... you need a cross over cable if you want to pc's to speak directly to eachother, other wise you need a straight through cable into a hub/router/switch
