Alright. It's done guys. An XBOX inside of a NES console.

$115
+ 20 hours of labor and confusion

Playing Nintendo ROMs on an XBOX just wasn't enough for me, so I gutted a chipped XBOX and threw the contents into a NES case.

Just for you skeptics, I do need to let you know that I left the DVD drive out because it just can't fit, and I actually still have a stock hard drive in there. I was going for that cheap/practical approach.

I've got FCE Ultra (a NES emulator), a SNES emu, boXplorer, and Halo on the hard drive. . . and I still have 1GB+ space left to fill!!!

Yes, everything works (except the non-existent DVD drive).

Here are some more pics.

Man, it took a lot of thinking, routing, reworking, rigging, and soldering to get this baby finished, but it's done.

Here's a list of the hardware inside:

V1.0 MOBO and HDD
V1.0 Power Supply
2 sets of controller ports with soldered extensions
1 Xenium ICE chip + solderless adapter
1 additional 50mm cooling fan for the CPU (stock fan doesn't fit in the case)
1/8 inch plexi window on bottom of case

No way bruh. It's sick in there. There's enough solder in there to build a sherman tank, not to mention top secret stuff that could get you killed.

Seriously though, it's not pretty in there. The MOBO is slammed to the bottom, the Power Supply is flipped and stuck on the ceiling, along with the hard drive.
I might eventually post pics on My Webpage.

Thanks for the feedback.

you likely could still fit "a" dvd drive in there.. just not the xbox stock one. Maybe a laptop drive. We've seen it with PC to NES conversions.

Nope Biggy.

The capacitors on the MOBO stick up right behind the buttons, and the power/eject module cable is far too short to reach over there. I could'a' soldered in 9 extension wires, but I'd still have that capacitor problem. So they're actually located underneath the system up front. You just slide your finger under and hit the switch.

I did have to solder 40 points to get the controller ports in the tail of the NES! That was tedious.

Very impressive! It would have been cooler though if there had been room behind the NES cartridge..hole thing to put the dvd drive.. You could just lift the flap and eject it!

That's pretty tight. Doesn't rely on lights or windows (although there is one on the bottom) to be cool.
