I've been trying to install this onto Xebian with no joy.

I've read tutorials on APT-GET amongst other things, but I just can't get it to install. Keeps moaning about dependencies and stuff. I just want to install the freaking program. No wonder I use Windows sad.gif

Can anyone help? I have a *.deb file for the installation, but it want libraries etc etc etc

But, how does it know where to get gaim from? I can't see how that would work, but I'll try it tonight.

you get it from one of the debian package servers. apt is a system used by debian which connects to mentioned servers (list saved in a file in /etc) and downloads the package you need and all it's dependencys. then it install everything and you just have to type the name
