ive heard of ppl doing the side vent glow with leds. how was this acheived? here is what i think:

u put 1 led in between each of the vents (10 on each side) and hot glue them into place. u then hot glue the rest of the vent (from the inside) so it diffuses the light more.

again, that may or may not be correct. anyone with a tut for this or any advice?

That's pretty much it.. you can follow Ben999_'s jewel tutorial for wiring the LEDs, then just stick them wherever you want. It's what I did for a DVD window I'm working on now, and it would just as easily work with the side vents.

LED's are pretty small, no need to use tons of hot glue. I would use dabs of electronic grade silicon. Silicon is very flexible and heat resistant and holds really well, but can be removed if need be in the future. You can make mistakes placing your leds and move them with silicon. Hot glue is more permanent.

I would only put LEDs at the top of the vents, and just enough glue to hold them in place.. no need to glue up the entire side vents!

Filling in the vents with glue would probably cause a small heat increase.. nothing to worry about, but it would be the same as sticking the Xbox in a small cupboard with no ventilation.

edited to make sense

Hey lowsodium, I would change your avatar before the mods see it. I had that avatar and they said that I would be banned if I didn't change it. Just a heads up biggrin.gif

i dont think theres a problem with his avatar. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

But as for the vent leds, couldnt you just use a 4in cold cathode?? one on each side. it wold probably work alot better.

ya, but i already have enough leds and resistors to do the job. besided, cold cathodes are no fun, and i allready have a CC jewel so i can only add one more light with out putting another inverter in.

Just make it like this

=n=n=n=n=n=n=

where = is the - over the + and resistor wires and slide it down into the side between the shielding and the plastic part so the wires are out of site on the bottom and the leds will only stick out a little the top should close over the leds and your done.

haha. I also have one hundred blue LEDs. I got a little overexcited when I started modding and bought a giant bulk order off of ebay.
