Need To Flash Eeprom
Posted 05 September 2004 - 02:24 AM
Now I have a dead xbox.
I did however at one point backup my bios and eeprom with Slayers EvoX auto-installer.
I have an 1.6 xbox, with an AppleX IV Pro modchip.
Is there anyway I can flash my eeprom to get it working again?
I've had my xbox for 2 days now... so pleeeease tell me i didnt waste 220$ on nothing.

|if you can boot to an evox boot disc, you can do reflash through there|
Is Slayers EvoX Auto-Installer the same thing? I have one of those, and it wont boot.
Is there any point in me getting an "evox boot disc" and trying that out? I mean is there any possibility at all that my box will boot from a CD/DVD?
thewickedjester thanks for replying. Please post back with those other solutions when you're rested and well.

you have two options that i can think of:
1. get a mod chip, load it with a bios, reflash your tsop, then you have a mod chip anyways
2. attach a ground switch to your tsop chip and get it to launch the first two banks off the tsop chip
(the above works because the tsop is 1mb, the xbox boots the last 256k section, but regularly checks the other banks, so by forcing the chip to launch on of the other banks, you can reboot to your dash and reflash your tsop)

I've read about this cromwell method, but I'm uncertain if it will work my my 1.6 xbox/modchip.
You're constantly mentioning TSOP... whats that? Is that the circuit that contains the Eeprom or something? Or does it have to do with the modchip? Cuz its the Eeprom that went bye bye.

your eeprom is a bit of info on your xbox system, things like if you xblive account is banned, ect. when you hit restore eeprom from backup (or whatever it is you hit) then it rewrote the eeprom, but there probably wasnt the proper files to put into the eeprom chip. i think
check the tutorials section, there are guides to resoring your eeprom or somehting like that.

So if i removed the modchip, I'd have a working xbox?
thewickedjester> Yeah, I found some guides, although I'm not sure if the cromwell bios will work with my 1.6box/modchip.
Chancer>Eeprom programmer, whats that? Some advanced hardware?

The eeprom is not inside the modchip its a seperate chip on the mobo.
