can you do that mod without a soldering iron and if so is it safe

nah i have all the equipment but no soldering iron and in the end you did not answer my question is it safe top use eletrical tape only instead of solder

that was you original question, where the hell did electrical tape get involved?

P.S. you can buy a soldering iron for $6 at radio shack

i know i forgot to mention the electricalk tape in my first post.but it was said to use electrical tape in the tutorial so i thought that it didnt matter if i said it and im in australia and i dont think theres any radio shacks here so can i do it with just electrical tape and will it work

Just using electrical tape is fine. Though for a solid connection you'd probably want to get a soldering iron sometime.
