Could be a problem since it's just USB. Try it first, and if there is a problem, they sell things that boost USB distance like another 50' or somethin.

How far do wireless controllers reach? I don't know, but that could be a solution.

USB cables have a problem over 5 metres (15 feet) unless you use a repeater / extender.

(the xbox controllers are USB, so I would say that you should be able to extend them to the 15 foot range - buy 2 extenders and see if it works)

thanks guys, I was hoping to not buy a new set of wireless controllers, so I'll look into getting a repeater or something.

Also, does anyone know if its USB 1.1 or 2.0 in the xbox, or would that even matter?

edit: i found this thing http://cgi.ebay.com/...6707736959&rd=1 but if i;m not sure whether they'll be a delay when I press a button on the controller?

By the time you buy the repeaters, and wire, and splice them together to have the really long wires, you might be better off just selling your controllers and buying wireless ones.

I use a wireless controller from about 12ft, Its fine for xbmc etc, but a bit laggy for games like burnout 3, The logitech wireless is supposed to be very good though...

I'm doing the same thing and don't have option of using wireless (already have far too many wireless devices and the xbox is in a different room BEHIND me). I need to know if anyone has used a repeater and adapters to extend the length of the controllers. Using two xbox controller extenders doesn't work because it exceeds the max USB cable length. I tried it and get intermittent "diconnects" when playing games.

Plus any wireless controllers that support xbox live headsets are very expensive...

Anyone ever try repeaters?

If the problem is the distance between where you sit and where the equipments are, why not extend it the other way. Keep the Xbox close to where you sit and extend the audio/video feed. There are tons of AV signal booster that can handle much longer than 24 ft.

2 reasons:

1) The cost of the quality cables (1 component and 1 toslink) I use in my system over than length would cost almost as much as 4 wireless controllers. At the least, 4 repeater cables ($10 each) and 8 USB adapters (max $13 each) would be a wash in cost.

2) Asthetics. This is in a dedicated home cinema and having an xbox sitting in the room is not desired.

I currently run the controllers through a 2" conduit I have running through my seating riser to the equipment room, but it is too long.

Just wondered if anyone had used a USB repeater to increase the length. I did read that you cannot use a USB hub to extend the length because the controller already contains an internal USB hub (controller, memory slot, memory slot) and it doesn't work correctly if chained with another hub.
