Can I Run Xbmc Using A Soft-mod Only?
Posted 23 September 2004 - 02:17 PM
Could anybody share their experiences of using a softmod exploit to run XBMC?
Which exploit works best?
I have a Chinese v1.1 XBox. Software is K = 1.004817.01 D = 1.00.5659.03
Would rather not do a chipmod, as my old PS2 never played audio CDs properly after it was modded. Plus I play more moves & music than I do games.

UDE works the best. I use it myself. I have emus and Halo(on the HDD) and XBMC on it as well as other stuff.

The only think I am unlcear on is which files are required for downgrading my dash. There doesn't seem to be a tutorial on this.
I guess I should downgrade to 4920. I found the following text from googling around (see link below). I have Slayers eVox installer v2.5, but I have read elsewhere that you can do it from a disk image. What is th best plan of action? The slayer file is an ISO, so I guess I will not be able to simply FTP the files across to my xbox, but will have to transfer them from the xboxes CD drive?
Thanks again for your help.
Things you might need to downgrade your dashboard:
A copy of an Xbox Live 1 game (I used Ghost Recon, any game that is for Live 1 should do)
The following files which I ripped from the \SYSTEM\ALL\c\xboxdashdata.1012a700 directory of Slayers EvoX Auto Installer V2.5
