Hi,

i got a xbox from a friend of mine and i actually dont know what exactly is in there. He doesnt know it also.

It boots and displays "Phoenix Bios Loader". The start screen shows "Evox +3935".

My question is: is my xbox just biosmodded or with a new ?dashboard? ??

It does read my backups which i ve created with crossover cable (ftp etc...)

Does that mean i have a modchip ? or does this also work with that "phoenix bios loader" and the "EvoX +3935" ?

And: Is it possible to plugin a bigger hard drive, if there is no modchip in my xbox ? just that phoenixbiosloader and evox+3935 ?

thanks for all replys...

SRY for my english...its not my native language smile.gif

phonix bios loader is just a program, not the item that does the modding itself.

the only sure way to tell if it is a mod chip, tsop flash, or exploit is to open it up.

if there is a chip, you got a modchip
if there is a switch soldered to 2 or 3 points on the motherboard, its a tsop flash
if there is none, its most likely an exploit

yeah, you can. you will have to "unlock" the original drive to put in a new hdd, then just ftp over all the files.

that says to be its just been exploited.

and is not modded with a modchip / tsop flash.

Its just been exploited.

and if it is just a Soft-Mod, its not as easy as just unlocking the HDD etc...

he was right, its a soft mod, so you dont need to open your xbox.

a soft mod is a software exploit that lets you do everything a modchip would, but it is harder to change out hdd's

Look in the C:\Fonts

directory and see what you have in there.

Its by no means fool proof, but I am guessing you will have bert.xtf and ernie.xtf

Dont know how the newer xploits work, so they will prolly be diffrent, but PBL is used to load a bios on systems with either an old modchip (but you would usually load the bios AFTER the dashboard) or on systems that are softmodded.

i would guess you have a softmodded box, and therefor a HDD upgrade is harder than what it is on a Hardmodded (mod / TSOP flash) Xbox.
