It would seem that I somehow corrupted my eeprom on my v1.4 xbox. When I boot, I get no audio or video and a steady red light on my eject button. This would lead me to believe that I have a corrupt eeprom (damn that avalaunch).

Anyhow, being the dumb bell that I am, I never backed up my eeprom onto my xenium. My questions are as follows:

Is it possible to load an eeprom onto my xenium directly? (I don't have another v1.4 xbox eeprom from which I could use to restore my corrupt xbox.)

Do I have to use a v1.4 eeprom?

I'm thinking of purchasing a banned or unbanned v1.4 eeprom (I don't use Live on this xbox), does it matter that my xbox has a Focus chip and not a Conextant chip?

I've read of a method that can restore a corrupt eeprom using this tool:
http://arisme.free.fr/Xbox/Reflash/

Has anyone successfully done this, and does this apply to all version xbox's?

If you update to XOS 2.0.1, you should be able to access the OS on your chip. Then just burn a new eeprom to CD and flash from .bin. BTW, there are freely avalible banned eeproms online if you don't have a backup of yours anywhere...

Ok, but does the eeprom have to match the version xbox that I have?

for your 1.4 xbox, any eeprom for xbox versions 1.1 to 1.5 will work... 1.0s and 1.6s have different eeproms...

On this same note...I have:

v1.6 w/dead MB
v1.6 normal
v1.0w/Xenium ICE

I need to unlock the HD that comes from the v1.6 w/dead MB. I have the files backed up to my pc(evox c:\backup folder). I was thinking is is possible to flash the eeprom of the v1.0 with the backed up eeprom from the dead v1.6 then place in the hard drive to unlock and take needed files from.

(edit) or even possible to boot the eeprom from flash on the xenium ice just to unlock the HD. I hope this makes sense.

To unlock a locked HDD you'll need the eeprom of the xbox that locked the drive. Not just the same model, the same eeprom. However, if you locked the HDD with the Xenium OS, you may be able to unlock it via the Xenium OS as well (It sets a master password, and *I think* tries it whilst unlocking). If it doesn't then use atapwd.exe on your PC with your xbox drive plugged in and use the master password of "TEAMASSEMBLY" (Again, XOS2 or configmagic will have needed to lock your drive...)

Do you have a back up eeprom anywhere?

I believe I do...does evox. back up the eeprom to c:\backup? If so I do have it. Or at least I have the HD code listed there I just can't find a program to unlock it using the code in the c:\backup folder.

I tried the cromwell restore several times with no success. But the xenium v2.0.1 restore worked flawlessly the first time.

If it's never been opened, and if your warranty has expired, your best bet is to get it repaired by a professional (it'll probably cost you as much as new xbox though).

If you have a modhip you can open the xbox and attempt to diagnose the problem yourself.

At the very worse, you can put up your xbox on ebay in "as is condition" and try to recoup some money for a new one.

WildOptic: have you tried updating to XOS2 2.0.1 yet?
