Is this an Xbox drive you're putting in a PC? If so, the drive must first be unlocked before it can be accessed by your PC. Easiest is to unlock it while it's in the Xbox, but if you have the HDD password, there is a way to unlock it while it's in the PC.

Put your windows install disc in and start the installation process. Go until it formats the drive, then just cancel the installation and you should be set. Or I guess there's a disk manager included with windows as well that you could use.

and, umm, I found that info. out in about 15 seconds by searching google.com

windows wont reconise the format so it dont put it in exploer

to make it work (it did for me) do this:

Go to control panel
then >Administrive Tools
>Computer Management
>Storage
>Disk Management (Local)

Then right click on the hard drive, it should say somethin like unknown format, format it and it will appear in explorer

i did the whole WinXP CD in the drive & restart, formatted the partition, then restarted and it showed up in explorer.

then i chose to format the drive using winxp and i think it fucked my c: drive over. so i'm in the process of redoin that now. no big deal. i do it all the time anyways to flush out all the leftover "crap" from uninstalls.
