I'm just curious as to what temps everyone is getting from their hard drives? Which ones run the coldest? Quietest? I am looking to buy a new drive, my 40gb maxtor, which runs at about 55c, isn't cutting it on size or temperature. My friend has got a 120gb wd, and his drive is 34c?

What's everyone got?

I have a Seagate Barracuda with to me is very quiet, fast, & cool. To hear it, I would have to put my ear on the Xbox to hear it. I had a Western Digital 120GB which over time (about a year) became very noisy & eventually broke down on me while playing Ninja Gaiden, which reads from the HD frequently grr.gif As for tempature, it gets fairly warm over long periods.

As for Maxtor, I'm using one right now in my computer & when I load a PC game , you can hear the Hard drive working * it takes time for things to load up. I even touched the HD & it gets pretty hot

So my opinion is Seagates are the way to go if you want to coolest & fastest, & quietest drive.

Seagate: 48c-50c
Western Digital: 50c-54c
Maxtor: No Clue

Ditto on Seagates. Mine is very quiet and I have never had heat issues.
