Ok i want to transfer all my game saves to my friends xbox. I would like to connect to his xbox without the use of a router. I have tried many things, like setting the IP to static but i could not get a connection. I tried both regular and cross over cables.

EDIT: wow it didnt even look like english

There is a nice networking guide in the tutorials section. You'll need to use a crossover cable and static ip because you aren't running it through a router.

I am a Total Noob to the Mod's so I can't answer any of the Software questions, but the first thing you need to do is make sure the two boxes are talking at all. I would suggest as a test you hook up your crossover cable between the two boxes and fire up halo using the M$ Dashboard. Then try a system link game between the two. If this works you at least know that both NIC's and the Crossover cable are funtioning properly. What IP addresses are you manually entering? I would suggest 192.168.10.2 and 192.168.10.3. If this procedure is doable with a router then it is doable with a crossover cable. All a router does it direct packets of data to the correct destination and do some traffic monitoring. Since your "network" has only 2 nodes a crossover cable is in effect a router. Crossover cables can get damaged, so before you beat yourself over the head with a controller make sure it is working. Sorry can't be of more help, but at least you can get it narrowed down to a software, not networking issue.
